Private Nursing Home
A prestigious privately-owned nursing home, the main part of which was founded on Queen Anne architecture, commissioned Lesley Ann to refurbish the sitting room situated in the more recent and modern wing. The room was rarely utilised because it was so uninspiring.
Lesley Ann wanted to create a warm and inviting space to be enjoyed by the residents and their families. A room that provided opportunities to read, play bridge, watch a film and enjoy sherry before dinner - and one that did not resemble a soulless three star hotel. The style chosen, based on the preferred choices of the residents, was English Country House using a mixed palette of fabrics and wonderful designs from William Morris.
"I cannot tell you how thrilled the residents and their families were with the new sitting room. I think the best thing for me was the sight of one resident who, in the two years I have been here, has never been seen in the room. After the refurbishment, we found him sitting on the sofa reading a magazine. For me, that is what the whole project was all about. Thank you for making the room into something so special for our residents."
